Why do you torture me?
I just cancelled my Gib 336 because the fretboards are comming out of the factory laminated, (since the problem with the Feds and the Lacey Act) So as a consolation I picked up an Epiphone Casino Elitist. Made in Japan with Gibson electronics, Alnico magnets, and P90's . Gigged last Sat with it (after an awesome set up by my buddy), had a religious experience.....Tim, check out the specs....

yes, that's the color, and yes I bought it from Sweetwater.
If you want to tell me a "bed time" story, include the 2 single pickup archtops I happen to be seeing in your guitar porn.

One of those jazz boxes is the Epiphone Century -1951.

The archtop with the lovely quilt back and sides is a D'Aspiranta. A reasonably priced- Korean made laminate with a (supposedly) Kent Armstrong pickup. I picked it up several years ago from a "doctor" in Long Beach. Yes, from Ebay.

It played real nice and the construction was solid. The notes were very clear. I bought it for 850.

I took it to my luthier (Fred Marotta-Repair Zone) in San Diego. Fred inspected it and played it. He said it was a great guitar for under a grand.... He liked it alot. So do I.

All it required was a bit of tweaking and string height adjustment to my taste.

A very good value.

I love your operative words.

Could be coconut shell, dyed black..... Not a clue.

It's got a nice tight box and the nitro cellulose is very thin. It has none'a those deep cracks that develop from applying the clear with a fuckin' high nap roller. We love our clearcoats thin.

I have an old true story about finish cracks if anyone gives a fuck.

Here's my latest, and I absolutely love this git. I got it on a Friday about a month ago, and gigged Sat with it (after a very proper set up, thanks Ed). The P 90's are fantastic, build quality , superb!. (Made in Japan). Alnico magnets, real abalone, grover tuners. True acoustic. It's got that 60's thing going on. Closest Gib is a 330. (which they just reissued)

Jeff, it is beautiful. The very first night I played it with the Roosters, I had a religious experience. It had the character of most of the guitars I heard, as a young lad.
I'm just an OK player, but I love playing.

Love the chrome covers on those doggy eared P-90s.

Those fkn things just squawk.

I'm a fan.
