WOW, been a long time since I posted in here.

As the Viper Community Turns and has it ever. The end of 2020 I Stopped being the Web guy and primary Moderator and Administrator over on the VCA. Stopped all involvement on the International Viper Registry (IVR). Started writing books with all the data I collected, bought a 53 Chevy pick up as a project to have fun with and so much more.

Viper and Viper Truck communities are well invested in the Social Media type platforms and so was I. Now I leaving those toxic environments. I will have zero impact on there bottom line, my only way to show my displeasure is to not use it, so here I am, back where I started.

I also understand that very few will follow me here as forums are dinosaurs and are not as fluid at social media. However, data.... is better documented in this environment than in Social Media

In the coming days, I will be showing what I'm doing with the books, I'll be updating the page where they can be obtained, all kinds of stuff going on

Cheers

I guess I'm liking this reversal back to the forum where this started so many years ago. I went back and reviewed posts I made on fb and noticed it had reach but not real conversation. I think I was fooled into believing that reach meant interest in what I was doing. However after several years of seeing the reach with very little conversation, I might as well just post here. Some may wonder why. the biggest reason is being able to do a search

T minus 57 days to FB closure

Went back an visited the ole VOA to check in with the progress. I see that there won't be any until mid month and so the posts are just normal frustration stuff and of no real value in the moving forward.

I was asked yesterday if I thought they would survive, and I said yes. Not that I'm a VOA fan or promoter, I just think there are enough people in the club that will push for the survival.

I also thought is was unproductive at this time to even try to analyze any of this.

I'm not even sure I'm interested any more. I would drop by from time to time to see if there were Registry like type questions, it's now all BAT posts and "The Thread".

To me it may be clear that the local clubs should be the focus and if they want to pool there money at national for national event do that, otherwise, they should just collect dues for their local club. There will be no national mis steps at that point, the local clubs get to decide what national gets, not national determining what the local club gets... get it

Well Well Well

So reading the current drama is see the end of the viper nation on a national level,

Why would anyone be part of it when locally so much more can be done at a far less cost

I remember with the VCA and reading old post just how bad it was WITH PEOPLE PROTECTING POSITIONS AND INCOME. The same thing is happening now.

Also the lack of communication is also similar

The only plus is no banning

oh, but wait there is more

1/2of the people responsible for the mess, was re elected ugh

I just realized with leaving social media coming up on 12/31/2021, some of the Community drama will not be seen by me "YEA"!

I'll still have the two forums to review and see whats up. One is rebuilding and one is burning. One is actively seeking renewals while hiding the drama, the other is not actively doing anything (it appears). One has a variety a posts, the other centered on reviewing every mistake the other one made 8 years ago.

This is why you don't delete the past, ignore the past or just think your incapable of making the same mistakes that happened in the past. The past is evil and bite you when your not paying attention.

No, I don't want to be a member

Default Re: As the Viper Community Turns II

the shit storm over on the VOA continues, seems people are losing patience with the dishonesty of the 175k loan and NOW, there is a raffle for a Viper. One would think after all the issues with raffles in the past on the VCA, this would not have happened. the IRS seems to not like raffles and non-for-profit organizations. My understanding is from history that member fees are not taxable, income from a raffle is and that muddies the waters a bit. Sure, glad I'm not their accountant/treasurer. It's sounds like a nightmare. I'm also not a Tax specialist/attorney so I may just be talking out my ass. This is all opinion of course, but opinion based on history and the troubles it caused the VCA. Happy to see the VCA at least being smart about rebuilding where the VOA is in a balls on fire, 500 mph crash into the nearest wall. I don't think at this point though, that I would join any club/association. The people are great, the organizations not so much. It seems anymore to be less about club/association members and more about power

Also, I have found that watching the gee we fucked up thread over on the VOA more boring each day

Tell me this isn't the democrat build back better plan of viper clubs. Take money from the taxpayers, tell them it's ok, have people that had no involvement in the loss of 100's of thousands of dollars pay off that debt

whats wrong with that

Almost 30 days in and no more social media. Bounced to 30 active members, down to 7, should be back to 3 or 4 by the end of the month. Well the data will be here even for the guests

As you can tell I don’t post much any more, not that I’ve lost interest in Vipers or Viper Trucks. I’ve lost interest in pushing my particular passion. I’ve watched a multitude of sites and we are with out question in a major lull in interest. So with that, I will just quietly work behind the scenes

Cool Re: As the Viper Community Turns II

Hi Jeff,

I'm German and when I acquired my Viper I was so enthusiastic to be a proud member of this awesome community ... I was shocked and sad when I learned how things with VOA and VCA evolved stateside and what became of the once united fandom. As 'outsider' and someone who came new to the game (2021) I decided to keep my distance ... I still posted at all 3 forums (ViperAlley, VCA and VOA) that my Viper is stationed in good 'ol Germany. I don't mean to nag around, but in my opinion it was and is sad that such a small community got divided by stupid stuff.
However I wasn't able to dive to deep into what happened in the states and who's who ... a accident on the Autobahn (Belgium workes switched lanes with their commercial vehicle without watching out) made me spend my time differently.

I spend more than a year repairing my Viper and hat to learn so much more sad truths ... how many Vipers were scrapped, how shitty of a company FCA/Stellantis is for NOT providing even basic spare parts whilst boasting around with their 'new' halo cars ...... I'm still a little bit upset, confused and sad about that. In my opinion the Viper is an almost perfect supercar (because it is that 'simple') - everybody can work on it and the basis is more than good ... the plattform is in fact so good that it still would be competitive around the world - but that's not happening because of lacking support :-(
Anyways. I just wanted to say: I fully understand your ups and downs and I'm both: happy that I got my Viper but also sad that there isn't enough recognition of it. The fanbase is split, the manufacturer scorns and ignores it (I wonder if Demon owners have to buy parts from the junkyards too once their cars got older than 5 years?) and most people just don't know how capable, special and rare Vipers are. I regulary work on cars of all makes and I can tell you: the Viper is one of the most straight-forward constructions I've ever seen ... not as overengineered as German cars, jammed together like the JDMs or unreliable as the Italians. One of the things I hate most is the VW-company with all their sub-brands ... especially Audi and Lamborghini charge much money for cars that had every mechanic running and seeking cover. And of course Porsche ... yeah, there is serious engineering at play and I respect their achievments, but hell - dealing with the community requires some special ... attitude ... and money ... and image.
On the other hand: Porsche got what we (probably) will never have - a history that IS alive and even more important: they make sure to keep it alive. Just imagine Mopar would offer 'out of stock' parts like fender supports, body panels or headlights via their webshop - the spirit of the Cobra/Viper would be so much more alive. Offer kit cars, frames, engines and (most important) some suspension parts (that took me some time!) and the Viper wouldn't vanish that soon. But of course - they can't do that because everybody would see the contrast to the modern stuff - all image, (almost) no credibility side-by-side. The same goes for the new Ms, AMGs and almost every modern 'supercar' - purity was lost long ago ... downsizing (I worked as dyno operator in engine devolpment btw), new laws and pampered customers have switched the game - what once was important (weight, just necessary electronics, RWD, manual, NA power with much torque and quick response) was replaced by luxury, assistants, digital cockpits and stuff like that.

Anyways. I wish you a great week,
Kevin
