After several months having it in essence closed (just no time to work on it). I started adding to the Registry again. Now that I have my new business up and running, I have some spare time again to devote to the documentation of every thing Viper Powered. I still get the 2004 Build Numbers from Dodge, 2005-2006 build numbers are available. I currently have 2009 Viper Trucks Registered and 538 Vipers Registered.

OK, my (Job) break is over, back to work.... LOL

Looking at having all the registered Vipers and Viper Trucks added in the next few weeks. Then back to work on the Vipers I don't have pictures of.

This may be the most boring place on earth, however, it will contain a lot of information.

Oh look....another rose..... sniff

Some truths I've learned over time.....

A person buying a Viper or Viper Truck wants to lean as much as they can before buying

An owner of a Viper or Viper Truck, will hold as much information in secret as they can

hmmmmmmm

ViperJeff

Won't get much done tonight, real work to be done LOL

ViperJeff
08-06-2014, 08:26 AM
Today I'll be working on updating some of the build numbers on the site. With The BBCode for tables not included in this install, I need to figure out a good way to create and load it up that can be done regularly without having to edit everything, more of a cut and paste

The plan going forward

Things that will be part of the upload will be the last 4 of the vin, owner (if known) build date, location, market, color, QC or RC and maybe a few other items.

Initially it will just be the Viper Trucks, the Vipers really don't have build numbers (like the 2005-2006 Viper trucks) and the only way to do them is to do the same data search for the Vipers as I did with the Viper Trucks. I don't see that happening anytime soon as the Viper Owners really don't care about build sequence (thank God!).

Will be showing build numbers that I have for Special Edition Vipers and a few build sequence lists I did for a few Viper Owners.

Everything will include the last 4 of the vin in the list.

I figure the time I used to spend on multiple boards can be best spent doing something useful. I will be trying to add some additional year specific data that might be useful sometime in the future.

All this will be done slowly over the coming months.

Truly, the sad part, exposure will be limited.

Truly, the great part..... It will still be fun putting it together.

lets see if caveman or vprpwrd are reading. COULD YOU PLEASE BAN ME ON THE VTCoA!

Thanks

Keep in mind is was told to me way back when..... (you know, the whole Dom thing)

I possess no real powers, I'm just an average guy doing average things for exceptional people. I don't want no powers.. of any kind

The VTCoA has always been and probably always will be broken up into segments and offend one and your offend them all. Some are like girls going to the bathroom, they can't doing anything by themselves.

As you can see.... I've given up on being part of any organized group of any kind, just can't do it. So the one and only power that I might have???

wait... give me a minute.... I'll think of something

ViperJeff

I quit being an Admin because I wanted to have fun again....

That was the only reason. even though I've tried to sugar coat a few things an be a bit misleading.... Having a serious role no longer fits within my daily routine

ViperJeff

OK....

The initial testing is complete and sections will start to be opened up to those that obtain research access by purchasing "Viper Registry Research Access". This is found under UserCP/Paid Subscriptions. All the lists and breakdowns will be found in these area's. Along with that, the Wiki's I've decided for the 7th time are just too much work and drains my day of quality time to be spent with Family and Friends, so those will be going away too. Just going to turn them off.

I've been trying to give this data away for years. First the Vipers of The World. Nothing really materialized there. I also have been giving it away for years on the Viper Truck Club of America. Seems there I mostly post to myself with the occasional smart ass remark. I also tried to give it away on the Viper Club of America, I have had nothing but good communication with the VCA, just not a lot of follow thru. Greg (Nsain1) was/is very occomidating, however, they just can't figure out a way to make it work. Shame really, some really good folks there. The Viper Owners Association is... well....... The management hates the very idea that a registry is even a possibility. So with no one to give it away too, it's just time to go a completely different direction.

I will still help people with build numbers for the Viper Trucks, I think that's a pretty cool thing to know. Registering will still be free and the few things like dash plaques and certificates will still be available. Not even sure how to help the viper community with the minor issues, guess we will cross all those bridges as they happen

Anywho, the data is still there and more will be added. I'm sure in the coming years as information continues to disappear, hopefully the data will still be here.

Have a Great Day

Let the forum mod-ing continue!!!

Vipers - Research Access Only

No, my system does not tell me the number. When I ran the warranty history on the yellow fever, CE and VCA trucks that info was not present.

I didn't think so, but is was worth the question. Right now I'm working on build dates for the Vipers, is what sucks.... I know, I'll never get them all.

Still have some minor things to do as far as the structure, format and permissions. That should be done by the end of the weekend. Will continue to add the Vipers to the site til it's done. I figure that will take me through the end of the year.

Above and beyond that is to convert all the Vipers\Viper Trucks in the research area over to the Registered area. That is another item I know I will never finish, however, it will be fun trying.

Have a Great Day

You need the full VIN or just the last eight?

last 8 is good enough

ViperJeff
08-28-2014, 02:50 PM
In that case, here is the first list

http://www.viperregistry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16027 1-500
http://www.viperregistry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16028 500-1055

You can see that some of them already have a DOB. The Vipers all have lists like this 1992 (which is done) all the way through 2006. I should finish posting these lists up through 2014 in the next couple of days. So as you have time..

The third column {Owner} is the last eight of the VIN. As you know, the VIN is removed when Registered. The sixth column is the Build date {DOB}. Should be easy to copy into an excel worksheet. As you browse, you will see everything. The full VIN's are mostly kept under the level II area's. No rush, do what you can (I appreciate it). Questions, please ask

Vj

ViperJeff
08-28-2014, 02:59 PM
The other option is I can create an area were I just post lists of 25-50 VIN's or so and you can work from that. The little lists are easier for me, just not so overwhelming in size as I know my day just doesn't allow for me to just sit there are type and research... other responsibilities during the day

Let me know

Worked all weekend.... at my other gig....

However, did get a few things done. Got a great deal more of the build info loaded up. Currently working on 2009. So that means, the Vipers 1992-2008 are done. Viper trucks 2004-2006 are done. Almost have all the Registered Vipers and Viper Trucks loaded up, with start adding the pictures in the next few days.

Got a Viper Girl Pic thread going for our favorite Ape in Charge.

Will also be working on a new "production page". A quick reference on numbers for all years. There is no time line for this.

Didn't really do anything yesterday. Was working at my new gig fine tuning all the mechanical pieces. I think I have all that figured out and have it firing on all cylinders (fingers in this case). Probably do the same tonight and see how much I can get done without having to correct mistakes.

The Registry will probably just be worked on the weekends at this point. It's slowly becoming less important in my life as I get better and excel with this new endeavor. I did get one new build number request done last night. Wooo-Hooooooo

If I'm lucky, I will get to 3000 Registered by the end of the year

Well, I did get one 10 registered yesterday, so it wasn't a complete day off. I also got asked a question.

Is there a cost?

Very good question and should be covered again as it's been several years since this question has been asked. The Answer:

The Registry it's self is free and being part of it is completely a choice.
If you would like to purchase any of the few items we have, hopefully they are at a reasonable price
http://www.vipertruckregistry.com/VTR_Gear.html

Learning your build number (Viper Trucks).... again, a choice as I would need at least the last eight of the VIN to check my database. If It's a 2004, I still check with Dodge. Sorry Viper folks, there is no Official numbering system for the 30k Vipers out there unless you have one of the few numbered additions. By 2044 I should have all the build dates and might be able to give a best guess.

I have pondered requiring a Viper truck be registered before providing the build number, at this point, I'm not in favor of that thought. So there are no hidden hooks in trying to obtain data as I have what I have, the part I enjoy is putting a picture with a VIN. I just think it adds a great deal to the history.

Y'all have a wonderful day

Working on all the new web pages that will contain the master lists for the data I've been collecting. using the message board just isn't the best way to display it. I looked into the BBCode and found some really good ways of displaying the data. is what I also found was a very good way to let hackers hack.....

So, I'm back to where I started years ago. I'm using web pages to display the individual sets of data. No more posting the data into threads. I mean seriously, no one comments anyway so I might as well put it in a format that is cleaner and it just sits there till some one needs the data. You will find when you follow the links a very limited clue of what the VIN might be (last 4 of the VIN). For earlier years, no big deal. For the later Gen IV's and Gen V's, with the different sequences you might see your last 4 listed more than once, so you better know a bit more about the Viper... like color!

Once I have all the pages built I will then work on the Menu to help locate what you need. As a temporary menu, I'm using a page here on the forum with the individual links. Sorry, no link here, as it's easily found. You will also notice that the only thing I have worked on is the Vipers. I will get to the trucks in time. I've created a process that builds the pages for me and then it's just copy past and FTP them to the web. I still need to build that process for the Viper trucks. It's not that the Vipers are more important, just the order it was done. This new program will let me update a page in less than 3 minutes, which is a plus.. for me, just being selfish here.

Probably won't add any pages today, will work on the programming to detail out some more data and work on the Viper truck side. Even though there is no timeline for the Viper Trucks, hopefully it will be in the mix sometime this week.

I wish you all well and have a great day

So I will probably get the 2010 Vipers done tonight and some of the final documenting of the 2014 Vipers done.

Once that is done, I will start working on some basic details for each year. I was going to continue building the web pages but have decided to hold off for a bit. (like anyone will notice). Also will be working on some basic details for the Viper trucks. haven't decided just how I will present that.

Got quite a bit done yesterday. Worked on some additional data entry, added some additional code to building pages and got 1997 Viper breakout updated. I should have the coding done in time to start loading up interior and exterior details once the Model and color breakouts are done. Not sure I will build web pages for those breakouts. Looking at just adding the totals. Some of the lists will get pretty wild as 1 of 9's quickly become 1 of 1's because of there differences.

Another good day. Helped a Viper Owner out on some information he couldn't even get from SRT... That made me feel better. I figured if anyone really knew the answers they would. Seems though, that data they have to pass on to customers is very limited.

Other good news, got a great deal more done on the build info for the trucks. I know you've read this before, however, it is exciting for me. Once finished, it is just done.

Started putting the new format together in the database for build sheet information. based on initial trial and error, to completely breakdown all elements of every build sheet, it's going to take a couple of years to do all 40,000+ Vipers / Viper Trucks that I have. Well... that will keep me busy for 6 (I love my new gig). It will be nice though to have every possible breakdown available at any time

And you will only be able to find it here!!!!

I'm going to put each element in it's own field. For the trucks it will be pretty boring as 95% of the data is identical, for the Vipers, especially in later years.... really gets interesting

That will require some research. You have what I can obtain, just in a different format.

That's good, no sense in you redoing what I already have.

The other good news with the customer codes, once determined, they will cover a lot of VIN and we won't have to do 40k lookups :yaoface2:

You would think they would print this stuff up so people would know what these customer preferred packages are. I can't seem to come up with anything yet but I'm still looking.

It's been a surprisingly good week so far. It's almost hard to believe I've got as much done as I have. Two more 10's registered last night and a lot more work done on the DB. Wish y'all could see me smile, my face hurts

I didn't see that picture the first time I looked, as I was more interested in the red one.

Well this is not good news.

It's not big enough for mom's espresso machine and she does not want to go without it.

Kind of dumb as there are Starbucks every 15 feet.

I've been off work for almost a month now awaiting surgery. It's hard being out of my routine. I feel like I am doing NOTHING but at the same time it's been years since I've had any extra time, so I'm also enjoying it.

I don't think retirement will be easy for you Jeffey, we may need a specially woven straight jacket for you if that time ever comes in your life * LOL

Got another 50 or so Vipers and Viper trucks Registered, it would be nice to get to 5000 by the end of the year. As some know, Andy has been helping a great deal, so a great deal of other things are really taking shape....

Also learned over the weekend that Dodge/SRT has a bit of a documentation issue with the 2014's. There is a Color for the 2014's that is GTS-R Blue with has two distinctly different colors depending on the fulfillment of the Viper. If the Viper went to Canada, it is more of a Launch Edition Blue than the GTS-R Blue, however, like I said, the color code is the same......

This on will be fun to break down

Got very few things done over the weekend. Worked on the final setup of the new equipment for the business (that is going real well!!!!). Did get 15 or so more Vipers and Viper Trucks Registered. Things are coming nicely in that too.....

I must say, the Registry still gives me reason to smile as information is added and I thank all those that have contributed to it's success

Fine tuned a few of the process's I use and I think I'm ready to build and complete the online book if you will of build data. There is still a lot of things I can still do related to the data that won't be included in the online version. The good news, updates should be able to be done very quickly. Still need to work on the menu and the Actual Registry section where I can show the Vipers and Viper Trucks that are fully registered.

Damn.... now that I type that out... it looks like a lot still needs to be done

Starting to build the permanent data pages

http://www.vipertruckregistry.com/RegistryIndex.html

Eventually they'll all be uploaded and cross referenced for easy use. Once done, I will kill the Wiki's

Monday it's back on the loom as the new projects are ready to run. With two looms, the Web page updates won't happen fast, however, they will get done. It will also include some addition tools and information to include
